Falling Off The End Of The World

from Sun Dog by John Krane

/

about

This is a song about a captain who tells his crew that the world is round, so they're being superstitious by worrying that they're going to sail off the end of it. Then, they sail off the end of it. It's the captain's red-faced apology.

Emma and Garrett are amazing on this one. Andy recorded the drum part in pretty much one take. Their recording sessions were a blast.

Two very talented bassists recorded bass, Butch Zollner and Vince Murphy. Unfortunately, due to South Korea, family obligations and other stuff, neither was able to finish the track, so I played the bass on it and used parts of both of their bass lines.

lyrics

Lord knows I'm a bum
That's why I'm on this ship
And lord I would fly away
If I could just get a grip
So I'm no navigator
This is my apology
For leading you astray this way on the dark and boiling sea

Now I'm falling of the end of the world
Taking every boy and girl down with me
Yeah my head was somewhere else
My thoughts just were not where they needed to be

I understand your anger
Hell, I'd be angry, too
But you thought the world was round, too, didn't you?
So throw me overboard
I'm sure that it's due
I'll take my chances with the fishes and the water and the blue

Honest mistakes be damned,
I'll take responsibility
For leading you astray this way on the dark and boiling sea
