From A Mourning Husband

from Sun Dog by John Krane

/

about

It's in the title. It's from a husband mourning his dead wife, based on a guy whose wife had died who asked me to write a song for him. It's not really his personality, though, he's not as over-the-top depressed.

It's also just about any relationship ending and the kind of routines that you get into when you're trying to feel normal again. This is pretty black stuff, so there are a few lines to ease the tension.

In the physical release it might end up at the end of the album, email me and tell me what you think. Johnkrane at gmail dot com.

lyrics

Waking up, the kitchen's unclean
I'm alone in a broken dream
I say a prayer for Britney Spears
Take three shots for three long years

If you did come back, you'd see I've changed
In the cold dark morning I'm something strange

I quit my job to be with you
Although you're gone, I'll be there soon
So I make a plate and put it in God's face
He cannot claim to know my name

If you did come back, you'd see I've changed
In the long dark afternoons I'm something strange

I write you a post card, can't depend on common sense
To guarantee deliverance, I'm staying positive

I broke my back on a broken seed
The night's not done, til it gets what it needs
