about

This was originally a song about those hip motherfuckers who dress like it's the Civil War and sing songs as if they live on a farm, but in reality they've just got one too many Avett Brothers albums.

Anyways, I recorded it with Dana Anderson and Michael Ahlvers at my friend Bart Darnell's house. When I got it back, I started to hate the melody so I rewrote all of the words. It's now about that feeling where you can't get anything done, you're not productive and you're painfully aware of it.

I think these are some of the best lyrics I've ever written, especially "Nothing's worse than being young and thinking your old."

lyrics

The sun goes down and everybody's lonely
So every one goes out on Friday night
You're probably gonna go out tonight again,
But every time you're out you wanna go in

You miss the days when the leaves still burned
Everyone came over just for you
The music was thick and the drinks were cold
Nothing's worse than being young and thinking your old

A breakdown is all I need
To reawaken a part of me
That's been waiting to get me off the ground
A breakdown is all I need
To reawaken the man in me
And get me moving
Right out of this town

Every September it gets like this,
Not enough hits cause it's easy to miss
Love is cruel and quiet and strong
Worst of all it never waits too long

I suppose that I know
I've wasted my own time a time or two before,
We're gonna go sit on the porch, me and you
Watch the sun come up and sleep at noon

(Chorus)

When the coast is clear, it's gonna take them years
To clean up what you've made
Waste time in a different way
The older that we get, the less we need to say

I was 20 years old and the road ahead
Looked a lot less open than it does in my head
Maybe I've said this all before
Maybe I need to say it more

about

Krane came to St. Louis in 2000 and started writing story-driven spacegrass music in 2004. His new album "Sun Dog" took 3 ... more years to complete and includes guest appearances from some of the most talented musicians in St. Louis. It's a dark album with occasional wry humor and according to his grandmother, "bad words." less
